Dear Mr. Redmond,
I just saw the link to your open letter to Ms. Medley posted on Facebook and read through it. What a beautiful sentiment and a vital message to get across to young and old. As a strong ally of the LBGTQ community, I cannot thank you enough for posting such a thoughtful and articulate letter. The pain that so many youth feel as they buck up against a community like Vincennes, Indiana must be staggering. The thought that someone would belittle their existence is heartbreaking. It angers me that Ms. Medley is so incredibly ignorant.
Furthermore, please let me say that I am sorry for the loss of your classmate so many years ago and the horrible confusion and pain you must have felt. I wish you much luck in your endeavors and again, thank you, for for putting into words what many want to express. You are fighting the good fight and doing so with grace.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
All my best,
